Scheveningen Urban

Fine Art Photography Prints

This series of images form part of an ongoing project of mostly minimal urban landscapes / cityscapes captured in Scheveningen. I have always had an affinity for the border zones (ocean + sea or land + air) so naturally felt moved to shoot this slightly gritty testament to old school "fun" when I moved to The Hague and discovered these miles of seaside promenade.

Frequently Asked Questions

What paper and printing method is used for the Scheveningen prints?

Your answer here. The open edition prints are giclée printed on Hahnemühle German Etching 310gsm — a heavyweight, museum-grade fine art paper with a warm white tone and a pronounced velvety texture. Printing is carried out by theprintspace using archival pigment inks on Epson SureColor P-series printers with UltraChrome HDX ink technology, delivering wide colour gamut, smooth tonal gradation and exceptional micro-detail. The paper is acid- and lignin-free, ISO 9706 compliant for archival longevity, and has a matte finish that minimises glare and enhances the tactile feel of each print.

What is your questWhat size are the open edition prints and do they come framed?ion?

Your answer here.Open edition prints are produced at A2 (594 × 421 mm final print size) with an approximate 30mm white border. They are available unframed or framed in your choice of three FSC-certified Nielsen Quadrum solid wood frames — white satin, matte black, or natural oak veneer — each with 2mm edge-ground float glass with ~45% UV protection. The framed overall size is 618 × 445 mm. All prints ship with a certificate of authenticity.

Can I licence these images for an interior design or hospitality project?

Yes. The Scheveningen series is available for licensing for commercial, hospitality, and interior design projects — including large-format and custom-size prints beyond what is listed in the shop. More information on art procurement and licensing can be found on the Art Procurement page, or contact Alfred Lor directly at studio.11h21@gmail.com.

Where were the Scheveningen photographs taken?

The images in this series were shot across the Scheveningen district of The Hague, Netherlands — primarily along the harbour wall, the pier, the promenade, and the northern sea wall. The series is an ongoing documentary project exploring the border zone between the North Sea and the built environment: the industrial harbour structures, the weathered pier, the seasonal character of the beach, and the quiet human moments that occur at the edge of the sea. Alfred Lor is based in The Hague and continues to add to this series.

What should I be aware of before purchasing a fine art print?

Each print is made to order, so minor variations in colour, tone, and crop may occur due to screen-to-print differences and the hand-finished nature of fine art giclée printing. Colours on screen — particularly on uncalibrated displays — may differ slightly from the physical print. The warm white tone and velvety texture of the Hahnemühle German Etching paper are part of the character of the work and contribute to its archival quality. If you have questions about a specific image before ordering, please get in touch.
