Karatara Documentary Photography

I shot these portraits in Karatara, I small town near Knysna in the Western Cape, South Africa. The houses were built for a community of woodcutters when they were forced to stop working within the surrounding indigenous forest.

The Story

I was fascinated by these homes, all having been exactly the same, how they have evolved, how their families have evolved, how we all evolve.
