What paper are the prints made on?

Open editions are giclée printed by theprintspace on Hahnemühle Pearl, a heavyweight museum-grade fine art paper. The pearl surface holds a far deeper black than a matte cotton rag, which matters for work that depends on strong contrast and clean tonal separation. Acid- and lignin-free, and ISO 9706 compliant for archival longevity.

Limited editions are printed on whichever Hahnemühle paper suits the individual photograph — Pearl, Photo Rag, German Etching or Baryta. The choice is made per image rather than applied as a house standard: a stark high-contrast frame and a soft tonal one want different surfaces, and at large format the difference is visible. The paper is stated on the certificate.

What inks are used?

Archival pigment inks on Epson SureColor P-series printers, using Epson UltraChrome HDX ink technology — a wide colour gamut, smooth tonal gradation and fine micro-detail. Independent testing reports very high permanence ratings for both colour and black-and-white prints, though figures vary by paper.

What sizes are available?

Open editions are supplied framed in two sizes, listed on each product page.

Limited editions are produced in large format only: 70 × 100 cm in an edition of eleven, and 100 × 140 cm in an edition of five. Both are shown with current prices on each project page.

Are the prints framed?

Open editions are supplied framed and ready to hang.

• Material: Nielsen Quadrum solid wood, FSC-certified, in satin white, matte black or natural oak veneer
• Glazing: 2 mm edge-ground float glass with approximately 45% UV protection. Acrylic on XL sizes
• Profile: 16 mm face × 25 mm depth, with hanging fittings fitted

Limited editions are supplied unframed. At this scale framing is usually specified by the buyer or their framer, and shipping a large framed work behind glass carries real risk. Framing can be arranged and quoted on request.

What is the difference between an open and a limited edition?

Open editions are produced on demand with no fixed print run, supplied framed with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Limited editions are hand-signed and numbered, produced in large format and unframed, and priced on an ascending scale as the edition sells. Each format is its own edition — eleven at 70 × 100 cm, five at 100 × 140 cm. The certificate states the image, the format and the number, and once a format's edition closes no further prints are made at that size.

Prints produced at other sizes for commercial and interior projects are unsigned and are not part of any edition.

One or two artist's proofs are retained outside each edition.

What Comes With Each Print

Open editions ship with a signed certificate of authenticity.

Limited editions ship with a certificate stating the image, the format, the paper, the edition size and the print's number, signed and dated. Each sale is entered in a provenance record kept by the studio, so an edition's ownership history can be traced.

How long will my print take to arrive?

Open editions are made to order. Typical delivery is ten to fifteen working days after dispatch, from theprintspace's laboratory nearest your address; London, Düsseldorf or New York.

Limited editions are printed, then signed and numbered by hand before despatch, and ship from the Netherlands. Allow three to four weeks.

Will I pay customs or import duty?

Open editions are produced locally in London, Düsseldorf or New York, so orders within the UK, EU and USA cross no border and carry no customs charges or import duties. Elsewhere, the recipient is responsible for any applicable duties, taxes and fees.

Limited editions ship from the Netherlands. Within the EU there are no import charges. For the United Kingdom, United States and other destinations, the recipient is responsible for any duties, taxes and fees that apply. Original artworks attract favourable rates in some jurisdictions, but import VAT usually still applies.

How is my print packaged?

Open editions are packed by theprintspace for safe transit. Depending on size and format, work ships flat in reinforced packaging or rolled in a tube. All materials are recyclable or biodegradable.

Limited editions are packed by the studio and ship rolled in a rigid tube, interleaved with acid-free tissue. Tracked and insured for the full value.

My print arrived damaged. What now?

Inspect your order on arrival. If anything is damaged, email studio@11h21.com within 7 days with your order number and clear photographs of both the item and its packaging.

Open editions will be replaced free of charge through theprintspace. You may be asked to return the damaged piece for inspection.

Limited editions will be replaced with a print bearing the same edition number, and the damaged piece must be returned and will be destroyed. The edition size is never exceeded.

Terms and Conditions

Made to order. Each print is produced on demand. Minor variations in colour, tone and crop may occur, due to screen-to-print differences and the hand-finished nature of fine art printing.

Sizes and trims. Listed sizes refer to paper size. Image area, borders and trims may vary slightly to preserve the composition of the work.

Editions. Each format is a separate edition and is closed permanently once complete. Replacement of a damaged edition print carries the original number; the damaged work is destroyed and the edition size is never exceeded.

Production and delivery. Timeframes are estimates and can be affected by carrier delays, customs processing and seasonal demand.

Duties and taxes. For deliveries outside the recipient's customs union, the recipient is responsible for all import duties, taxes and fees.

Damage in transit. Report within 7 days of delivery with photographs of the item and packaging, and a replacement will be arranged.

Lost or delayed shipments. If a shipment is lost, or delayed well beyond normal carrier timeframes, get in touch and a replacement will be organised.
