Rotterdam - Urban Landscapes
Available as Limited Edition Prints.
Street scenes and urban landscapes shot in Rotterdam, primarily along the banks of the Maas. The series is a study of this stark modern city of soaring structures, and its interaction with the natural elements that frame it.

This is an ongoing series of black and white urban landscapes shot in Rotterdam, mostly in the centre, and on or near the bridges crossing the Nieuwe Maas. Concrete, steel, glass and cable.
I am fascinated by the huge man made forms that rise out of the earth and water. That are both lit by the sun and sky, and in return light the surrounding landscape with reflected light or hid it in sharply defined shadow. It is a constantly evolving interplay or structure and light.
I photograph here in monochrome because Rotterdam's colour is incidental and its structure is not. What remains when you take it away is geometry, texture, and whoever happens to be walking through frame.
Much of my work centres around the theme of the relational dynamic between man and nature, usually, the predominant theme is how man alters the landscape. In this series that dynamic is almost reversed. Because the human forms dominate the landscape, the images express the way the light and water and combination of those two natural elements influence the "monolithic" forms man has built.

How the Editions Work
Each work is produced in a hand-signed, numbered edition, supplied with a certificate of authenticity and a recorded provenance. Each format is its own edition, eleven at 70 × 100 cm and five at 100 × 140 cm .
Once a format closes, no further prints are made at that size.
Prints produced at other sizes for commercial and interior projects are unsigned and are not part of any edition.
Edition pricing rises as the edition sells. The price at time of enquiry is held for fourteen days.
Prices are for unframed works; framing is quoted separately, since at this size it is usually specified by the buyer or their designer. One or two artist's proofs are retained outside the edition.
